Less Painful Electrolysis

Less Painful Electrolysis

Permanent hair removal can be massively important for feelings of gender congruence and safety, and critical prior to some gender-affirming surgeries. Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved form of permanent hair removal. Unfortunately, this process of inactivating hair follicles is often painful.

Dr. Kurzet provides local and regional anesthesia prior to electrolysis sessions at Willamette Valley Esthetics & Electrolysis, conveniently located in the same office building. This involves about five to ten minutes of skin injections (yes, that means shots, but the needle only goes in about 3 millimeters deep), after which the skin will be numb during the entire electrolysis session. This allows the electrologists to remove hair from large areas of skin over the course of 4-5 hours, rather than the small patches treated in 1-2 hours at a typical appointment elsewhere. This way, half the face or the entire vaginoplasty map area can be treated with electrolysis at once, which provides faster results in far fewer electrolysis appointments.

The most common areas for local anesthesia and gender-affirming electrolysis are genitals, face, chest, belly, and forearm. If interested, please call Willamette Valley Esthetics & Electrolysis at (458) 215-4825 to schedule a consultation.
